organic mulled wine recipe

Mulled wine is one of my favourite things about Christmas. It’s so yummy and warm and spicy. Mulled wine of Christmas past used to be made with organic mulled wine sachets. There is nothing wrong with that at all but now I’ve learnt how easy it is to do it the ‘proper’ way, there is no going back. I choose to use organic wine because most non-organic wines are full of chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, dyes and added sugars. Drinking mulled wine, for me, is one of the most comforting and cosiest of times so I most definitely don’t want any toxins getting involved in the Christmas joy.

Organic Mulled Wine Recipe

  • 750ml bottle of organic red wine (I tend to use a Malbec)
  • 2 organic oranges
  • 10 organic cloves
  • 1 organic cinnamon quill
  • ¼ organic nutmeg
  • 1 glass of organic orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons of Organic Fairtrade sugar
  1. Stick the cloves into one orange
  2. Add the spices, orange juice and sugar to the wine
  3. Heat up, but do not boil, for 15 minutes
  4. Ladle into glasses and decorate with a slice of orange
